
Dr. Boaz Hoffman is a licensed Acupuncture Physician and a diplomate of acupuncture from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Dr. Hoffman earned his doctorate degree of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington with a specialization in oncology and pain management. He earned a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MTOM) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California. In addition, he holds acupuncture licenses from California, New York and Washington.
Dr. Hoffman specializes in the treatment of cancer patients and pain management. He also treats a wide range of medical conditions from the common cold, headaches and sinusitis to PMS and back pain. His oncology training included various Clinical Internships; Shuguang Hospital, Shanghai, Traditional Chinese Medicine Academy of Science, Chengdu, in China. In Washington; Seattle Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center, Skagit Valley Hospital Cancer Care Center and Highline Hospital Cancer Center.
Acupuncture & Chinese herbs can benefit cancer patients during different stages of their disease. Chinese Medicine has been shown to be beneficial in helping patients deal with chemotherapy and radiation side effects, nausea & vomiting, peripheral neuropathy and xerostomia, pain, fatigue, hot flashes, insomnia, stress and anxiety in order to increase their quality of life. Dr. Hoffman believes in an integrative approach to cancer treatment and works with oncologists for the benefit of the patient.
Dr. Hoffman has over 15 years of extensive clinical and teaching experience. Throughout the years, he worked in diverse clinical settings, medical centers and maintained successful private practices. Dr. Hoffman worked at the Hartford Dispensary in Connecticut treating people with chemical dependencies and HIV/AIDS. He was also part of a research team in Yale University who examined the impact of auricular acupuncture on people with chemical dependency. For five years, Dr. Hoffman was the Senior Acupuncturist at Sheba Medical Center Orthopedic and Neurological Rehabilitation Wards - Israel’s largest multi-professional rehabilitation program. He has treated IDF army veterans suffering from PTSD as well as those recovering from acute and chronic traumatic orthopedic and neurological injuries. In Seattle, WA, he was an Associate Acupuncturist with Chen’s Acupuncture and Associates, a large and busy acupuncture clinic. Dr. Hoffman is currently a faculty member at the Acupuncture and Massage College (AMC) in Kendall, Miami. He previously was a faculty member at Bastyr University in Washington, as well as at Genesis College in Tel Aviv, Israel. Additionally, he taught at Pacific Institute of Oriental Medicine in New York.
Dr. Hoffman has recently relocated to Fort Lauderdale and is currently practicing Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Tui-Na at the Shaare Tzedek Complementary Medicine Center.
Dr. Hoffman believes that being a doctor is not merely a profession but mostly a mission; believing in and loving what you do. As Maimonides wrote in his Physician’s Oath and Prayer: “Preserve the strength of my body and of my soul that they ever be ready to cheerfully help and support rich and poor, good and bad, enemy as well as friend.
